The new season got off to an exciting start with the 20:01 kick off in the NUFA League One fixture between Wakey's Wanderers and Jock Horrors.
Horrors' took the lead on 23 minutes when Slepicka's shot took a cruel deflection off defender Tonel, giving Wanderers' goalkeeper Alberto Becerra no chance. Just before half time Jock Horrors had an opportunity to go two up from the penalty spot after Hassell's foul on Luciano Leguizamon but Diguinho put his spot kick well wide.
Wanderers' equalizer came in the 74th minute when Galvao grabbed his first of the game after Horrors' failed to clear a corner kick properly. The scores were only level for 10 minutes before a decisive Jock Horrors' counter-attack down the left saw Manno cross for Bajter to head his team back into the lead with only 5 minutes to go.
The lead lasted less than a minute though, with Wanderers' scoring from kick-off in a free flowing move of top quality. The goal was avoidable though -- Pekarik had a chance to clear, but his header only fell to Galvao who blasted the ball home from just 6 yards out.
Horrors' manager THC Debonair will be left wandering what could have been following the penalty miss that would have put his team two up on the stroke of half time, and then seeing his team switch off after taking the lead with only 5 minutes left on the clock to allow Wanderers' to steal a point.
